Spielerando

Size a rescue supply drop to what the player is actually missing

A story rescue that refills everything makes careful play pointless, and one that gives too little ends the run it was meant to save. Here is how to work out, item by item, what to hand over, in whole crates, and why it should never be more than a fixed ceiling.

Why this works

Help should fill a gap, not erase the game's pressure. Sizing the gift to what the player will lack, in whole crates and under a ceiling, rewards good planning with nothing extra and lets careless play still cost something.

When not to use it

Skip it when the help is a reward or a gift that should feel the same for everyone, such as a promised supply from an ally. Or in a game of generosity, where sudden plenty is the point; there, a fixed, welcome gift is better.
