Pick today's weather so everyone sees the same and no streak runs on forever
A daily weather in a casual game is a nice shared moment, but throwing a die each day gives long sunny stretches or three storms in a row, and different phones in different time zones disagree. Here is a way to make the weather depend only on the date, keep the mix you want, and keep streaks short.
Why this works
Weather that comes from the date alone needs no server and no memory, so every phone agrees and tomorrow can be shown ahead. Drawing from a shuffled bag instead of rolling dice guarantees the mix and prevents endless runs of the same weather.
When not to use it
Not when the weather should react to what the player did, or when random surprises are the point, such as a storm that might hit any minute. Then roll dice per event, and accept that streaks can happen.
