Let night animals appear in the evening and leave at dawn, across midnight

Owls, fireflies and foxes should only show up at night, and day creatures the other way round. A window from evening to morning breaks the obvious check, because it wraps past midnight, and animals that appear in a single frame look like a mistake. Here is an activity value that works for any window and fades at its edges.

Why this works

A clock is a circle, and a window that crosses midnight is just a stretch of that circle. Asking how long since the start, rather than whether the hour lies between two numbers, makes every window work the same way.

When not to use it

Skip it for creatures that react to the player or to light, like ones that hide when a torch comes near. Their schedule is then not a clock but an event, so let the event wake them or put them to sleep.
