Show a plant that grew while you were away stage by stage, not in one jump
When a player comes back to a garden after a day, a plant that jumps from seedling straight to full size feels like nothing happened, and a slow replay of every stage wastes their time. Here is how to play only the stages that were passed, in order, at a speed that never takes longer than a moment.
Why this works
The truth of the plant is already settled, so the show is only a way to let the player take it in. Walking through each stage in order, quickly, explains what changed, while a long absence never makes the player wait.
When not to use it
Not when the player has done nothing to see yet, or comes back many times a day. Then the show gets annoying, so show only the final picture, with a small badge on the plant that changed.
