Slain monsters come back at once, or bosses return when they should stay dead

Some enemies must stay dead for good, others should return after a while, and none should pop back while you stand in the room. Here is a small record that decides this at the right moment and why checking the clock when you walk in beats checking every day.

Why this works

Time in a game belongs to the story, not to the real clock. Noting when something died and letting the world work out the rest means saving, quitting or travelling cannot shift the countdown, and the question only gets asked when the player is there to see the answer.

When not to use it

Do not use it for games that want constant danger, such as a survival or arcade game where enemies should keep coming. There a steady spawn near the player is part of the fun. Use it where the world should feel lasting.
