Land of people who left stays blocked forever, or vanishes during a server pause

A shared world needs to free up claimed land when its owner is gone for good, without punishing people who simply took a holiday or were locked out by a broken server. Here is a rule for when it counts, how long it warns and how to count the time.

Why this works

Land is held by being used, so absence should be counted only while a visit was possible. Fair time depends on how much someone put in, and a warning before removal gives a person a real chance to come back before losing it.

When not to use it

Do not free land on a timer in a world where space is endless or where claims cost real money. Nobody is crowded out there, and removing paid land causes anger. Let it stay, or offer a refund when it is taken back.
