Long speeches run out of the text box and the last words are cut off

A character who talks a lot fills more space than the box has, and a long word can push everything sideways. Your AI can break a speech into lines and pages that fit, using the real width of letters instead of counting them.

Why this works

Letters are not equally wide, so counting characters is a rough guess that fails with capitals. Breaking by measured width and by a fixed number of lines per page keeps the box honest for every language, including the long words German likes.

When not to use it

If the box can scroll, or text appears letter by letter in a box that grows, paging is not needed; wrapping alone is enough.
