Bring fallen players back in waves, without a wait that is nearly zero or nearly double
Respawning everyone in batches keeps the team together, but a player who dies a second before a wave comes straight back and one who dies just after waits very long. This entry shows a rule for fair waits and what the screen should count down to.
Why this works
Returning in waves keeps the team together. A minimum wait before the next wave means dying just before one is never a free return, and a fixed schedule on the server's clock lets everyone see and plan for the same moment.
When not to use it
Skip it in small groups, where one player waiting alone for a long time is simply bored, or in fast games where instant return is the fun. Use a personal return with a short delay instead.
