Replay a player's recorded inputs and find the exact step where your game goes wrong
A player says that after a long fight the game ended up in a state that cannot be right, and nobody can reproduce it by hand. This entry shows how to record a run so it can be replayed exactly, and how to name the first moment where two versions of the game disagree.
Why this works
A bug is easy to chase only when the same input always gives the same result. If the game is a plain rule from old situation plus one action to new situation, a recording replays exactly, and comparing two runs turns a vague hunch into one precise moment.
When not to use it
It does not help when the trouble comes from outside the rules, such as a slow network, a device quirk or a screen that draws wrongly. There, watch the live game on the affected device or collect its own error messages instead of replaying.
