Make players get your new version instead of a stale copy from their browser
After you publish a fix, some players still see the old game, or a new level that loads old pictures. Giving files names that change when their content changes solves it, but only if files that point to other files are handled in the right order. This entry shows how.
Why this works
A browser trusts a name: same name, same file. So if the name changes exactly when the content does, a stale copy can never be asked for again. A file that points to others must reflect their names too, or its own old copy would point to files that have moved.
When not to use it
Skip it when your hosting already handles this, or when the game is one single file the player downloads fresh each time. Also keep the first page under a fixed name, since players need a place to start that never changes.
