Spielerando

Notice that every return to a dungeon leaves a few more monsters behind

A game that gets slower the longer you play often leaves objects behind each time you leave an area and come back. One visit looks harmless, so you need counts over several visits and a way to tell steady growth from a normal wobble. This entry shows how.

Why this works

One visit says nothing about a leftover, only a steady climb over many visits does. Fitting a straight line to the counts separates real growth from the first-visit jump and from ordinary ups and downs, and the slope says whether it will hurt in a long session.

When not to use it

It only sees things you count. If the slowdown comes from something you do not count, such as images piling up in the background or work that grows with time rather than with visits, the trend will look fine. Count more kinds of things.
