Shake a piece for a wrong move so it always ends exactly where it started
A shake built from random jitters can leave the piece a few pixels off for good, and a second wrong tap in the middle of the first makes it jump. Here is a shake that is the same every time, ends at rest, and blends smoothly when it is triggered again.
Why this works
A shake is a message, not a change. If it is built to fade out and finish exactly at zero, the piece returns to its true place on every device and every time, and a repeat can start from where the first one was without a jump.
When not to use it
Skip it for players who are bothered by motion, or when many pieces may be wrong at once and the screen would look chaotic. Use a color change or a short sound to say no instead.
