Swap two pieces and slide them back when the move makes no match
A wrong swap should show itself and undo itself, but if the board is changed first and fixed later, matches can flash up that were never real, and fast fingers can start a second swap in the middle. Here is a timeline that keeps the board and the picture honest.
Why this works
The game's rules should never depend on its pictures. Knowing the answer first and then only showing it means a quick tap cannot corrupt the board, and the swap back tells the player in a gentle way that the move was not allowed.
When not to use it
Do not use it when a wrong move should cost something, such as a limited number of tries, or when you want players to learn by failing. Then let the piece stay put and count the mistake.
