Recognise a shaped recipe wherever the player puts it on the crafting grid
A recipe shows two planks on top of each other, but the player puts them in the corner, in the middle, or flipped left to right, and the game says nothing happens. Another player leaves a stray item in a far square and still gets a result. This entry matches by shape, not by position.
Why this works
A recipe is a shape, and a shape stays the same wherever it sits. Cutting away the empty border on both sides leaves only the shape, so the position stops mattering. Any extra item changes the shape and rightly spoils the match, which stops free leftovers.
When not to use it
Do not use it where the exact square is part of the puzzle, such as a pattern that must sit in one corner or a lock that reads positions. There, compare the grid cell by cell without moving anything.
