Spielerando

"Enough energy for 5 more levels" is a lie for a player who loses half the time

Dividing energy by the cost of a level assumes every try is a win. Players feel cheated when the hint is wrong, and the maths breaks for newcomers with no history. Here is an honest estimate that behaves with few or many tries.

Why this works

A promise about the future should reflect how the player really plays. Basing it on recent results, and starting from a cautious guess when there is little history, gives an estimate that is neither wildly hopeful nor absurd after a bad streak.

When not to use it

Skip it if tries cost nothing, or if the result is decided by luck and not by the player's skill. A prediction from past wins then means nothing; show only the plain count of tries that the energy allows.
