Let trees and rocks grow into view outward from the player, finishing in time
When a new area loads, trees and rocks that appear all in one frame look like a glitch, and giving each a random delay can leave the last ones popping in long after you have walked on. Here is a staggered appearance that always finishes within a set time.
Why this works
The eye follows a wave that spreads from one point and takes it for intent, while objects appearing at random look like a glitch. Fitting the whole wave into a fixed time keeps it short in a huge area, and a slight overshoot makes each arrival feel alive.
When not to use it
Don't use it when the player must act at once on what is there, such as in a fast chase, or on a loading screen that is hidden anyway. Show everything immediately, or fade it in all together, so nothing blocks the way.
