Share a reward among heroes so the pieces add up exactly

A hundred points among three heroes gives thirty-three each, and one point vanishes. Do it a hundred times and the party is a long way behind. Here is how to divide fairly by weight, give the leftovers to those who earned them most, and rotate who gets the odd one.

Why this works

Nobody should be able to count and find that points appeared or vanished. Rounding each share on its own drifts, so giving everyone the whole part first and handing the leftover pieces to the biggest fractions keeps the sum exact and the split fair.

When not to use it

Wrong when the reward cannot be divided, like a single rare item, or when fairness is not the goal because the winner takes all. Then use a roll, a turn order, or let the party choose who gets it.
