Standing on a friend's head, I slide off whenever they walk
A partner who carries you should take you along, but if you simply stand on a body that moves, you stay behind and fall off, or you shake against it. The trick is to move you by what they moved, and to remember some of that speed when you step off. Here is the rule and the check for being on top.
Why this works
Standing on something that moves is the same as moving with it. If the rider shares the carrier's actual movement each step, they stay put relative to it, and keeping a share of that speed on leaving matches how a real jump from a runner feels.
When not to use it
It is wrong where the carrier is a sloppy platform you do not want to ride, such as ice, or when the carrier moves in fast jerks. Then let the rider slide, or make the carrier stop while someone stands on it.
