Spielerando

A shared camera that keeps two players in view without making everything tiny

When two players walk apart, one camera has to zoom out, but zooming out forever makes the game unreadable, and zooming back in quickly makes the picture breathe. A simple framing rule has a floor for how small things may get and says what to do when the players are too far apart anyway.

Why this works

Both people need to see their own character and the other one, so the picture must fit them both. Zooming out fast keeps the player from leaving the screen, zooming in slowly avoids a picture that pumps, and a limit says when sharing the view is no longer possible.

When not to use it

Do not share one camera when the partners are meant to explore apart or the world is large and open. Give each their own view, side by side, and let them meet when they want to.
