Spielerando

After an update, saves from the old version crash the game or load as empty

You rename one thing in the save and every existing player is in trouble. This entry upgrades old saves one version at a time, treats very old saves that have no version at all, and refuses a save from a newer game instead of damaging it.

Why this works

Small steps from one version to the next are easy to write and to check, and any old save can walk the whole chain. Refusing a newer save protects data the old game does not understand.

When not to use it

Skip a chain if your game has no saves yet, or if players can simply start over after an update, such as a short jam game.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "After an update, saves from the old version crash the game or load as empty" (read_entry old-save-breaks-after-game-update) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
