Spielerando

The buy-max button promises seven upgrades but the game only sells five

The label says how many you can afford and how much it costs, then the purchase disagrees. A neat formula and the real prices drift apart because each price is rounded. This entry keeps display and purchase in agreement down to the last coin.

Why this works

The player pays the actual prices, so the actual prices must be the source. A formula is fine for a first guess, and one correction against the real sum makes the answer exact.

When not to use it

Skip rounding up if prices are kept as exact fractions; then the formula alone is right. Most games prefer whole prices.
