End a fight when the sun rises and the night monsters flee

Some enemies only live in the dark. When morning comes in the middle of a fight, who is left, who leaves and what counts as a win? This entry gives a clean ending for mixed groups and for the unlucky moment when the last hero falls at sunrise.

Why this works

Every fight needs one clear ending, and the order of the checks decides what the story says. Putting defeat first means a fallen hero is never rescued by the sun, and treating a retreat as its own result keeps rewards honest, since nothing was beaten.

When not to use it

Skip it when daylight should not matter, such as a game set underground or in a world with no sun, or when monsters should hunt through the day too. Use another trigger for the retreat, such as fear, a horn or lost health.
