Count "create three level-4 items" correctly when merges chain on
One drop merges into a bigger item, which merges again, and the quest asks for an item that existed for only an instant. Here is the rule for what counts as created, how the chain is resolved, and why checking the board afterwards gets it wrong.
Why this works
Something that was made and used up in the same instant still happened. Counting what came into being as the chain runs, instead of peeking at the board afterwards, keeps every step. The board only shows where things ended up, not how they got there.
When not to use it
Skip it when the quest really means what the player holds, such as having a certain item in the bag at the end. Then read the board, not the events, because items that were merged away should not count.
