Spielerando

Work out the exact moment an idle quest was finished while the player was away

The player returns after a night and the quest says finished just now, although it was done an hour after they left, and a bonus that ended in between was counted for the whole time. Here is how to find the real finishing time across changing speeds.

Why this works

Earnings are a total built up piece by piece, and the finishing moment is wherever that total first reaches the goal. Dividing by today's speed ignores that the speed was different earlier. Only walking the pieces in order finds the true moment, and rounding up keeps it honest.

When not to use it

Skip it when the finishing time does not matter, because nothing starts from it and the player only needs to know it is done. Then compare the totals and save the effort. Also skip it when the speed changes in ways nobody recorded.
