Spielerando

Turn a whole line of soldiers like a door, with the outer ones walking faster

When a formation turns, the units on the inside barely need to move while those on the outside have a long way to go. If everyone walks at the same speed, the line bends, bunches up or leaves stragglers. This entry gives each place in the line its own walking speed and step animation.

Why this works

When a rigid row swings round a pivot, everyone must sweep the same turn in the same time, so those farther out cover more ground and must go faster. The farthest one sets the pace for all. Slowing the inner walkers' steps to match stops them skating.

When not to use it

Wrong for loose crowds, a mob or a skirmish line where units are meant to find their own way. A rigid swing looks stiff there. Send each unit to its own spot and let them arrive at different times.
