Spielerando

Which of several resources really holds the player back from the next upgrade?

When an upgrade needs three different things, the slowest one decides the wait, and the other two just pile up. This entry shows how to find the real blocker, how long the others sit unused and why the answer is not a sum.

Why this works

Things pile up side by side, not one after another, so the player waits only for the slowest one. Adding to the others changes nothing they feel, and the useful effort is naming the item holding everything up and working on that.

When not to use it

It does not apply when the player may spend items in any order and a cheaper path exists, or when one item can be turned into another. Then the real wait is shorter than the slowest, so work out the best order of buying first.
