Find the spot in a horror level where many different players die, not one who retries
A death map shows a bright spot where one stubborn player kept dying thirty times, and it looks like the hardest place in the game. This entry shows how to build the map so that a spot is bright only when many different people struggle there, and what to show next to it.
Why this works
One stubborn player dying again and again can look like a crowd. Counting different players shows how many were caught, and the ratio of deaths to players tells a surprise that catches everyone once from a wall that makes people retry.
When not to use it
Wrong with very few players, or where dying is the lesson and meant to happen. Watch testers at that spot and add a hint for surprises or a checkpoint for walls rather than moving things by the map alone.
