Do groups come back sooner after a cliffhanger than after a calm ending?

Comparing how often groups returned after different kinds of chapter endings sounds simple, but groups that finished a chapter yesterday have had no time to come back yet. This entry shows how to leave them out fairly so recent chapters do not look like failures.

Why this works

You can only judge a return when the group had a fair chance to return. Leaving out those who finished too recently, and treating every ending alike, keeps a young chapter from looking like a failure just because it is young.

When not to use it

Do not read a cause into the gap between endings when they were shown to different kinds of groups, or when you have very few groups. Then try the two endings on similar groups by chance and compare those.
