Keep the world from clogging with dropped items without deleting what matters

Every dropped item is something the game has to keep track of, and a busy server ends up with thousands. Deleting the oldest sounds fair, but it destroys a freshly dropped sword before a worthless pebble. This entry shows which items should go first and which should be held back.

Why this works

A world can only carry so much, and what disappears should be what nobody would miss. Valuing items first, age second, and shielding fresh drops from the sweep protects what players still care about while the clutter goes quietly.

When not to use it

Skip it in a small game where only a few items ever lie around, or where players build and store things on the ground on purpose. There, give them a chest to keep things safe instead of cleaning up for them.

In the full entry

  • What to build, step by step
  • Starting values and the reason for each
  • 3 common mistakes and the fix
  • 15 lines of example code with 3 checks that pass
  • How your AI shows you that it works

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Keep the world from clogging with dropped items without deleting what matters" (read_entry ground-item-despawn-cap) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
