Let a plant grow only on the days it was watered, even after skipped days

In a story where the player tends a garden between scenes, the plant should show the care it got, not just the time that passed. A counter that adds a day every frame is wrong when days are skipped, saved or replayed. Here is a way to get the size from the log of watering alone, so it is always right.

Why this works

A plant grows from the care it got, so the honest record is the list of days it was watered. Work the size out from that list each time, and loading a save, skipping a week or replaying a scene always gives the same plant.

When not to use it

Don't use it when growth should be a surprise or run on its own, like a wild weed or a magic tree that grows overnight. A simple timer is clearer there, and punishing missed days would feel unfair.
