Drain flashlight batteries so leftover charge is never wasted when one dies

In the dark, the moment the light dies is the moment that counts. If the game throws away the last seconds of a battery when it switches, or swaps to a fresh one while a half-used one sits unused, the player loses light for no reason. This entry gets the order and the carry-over right.

Why this works

Using the nearly empty one first means no leftover charge is stranded in a battery the player thinks of as dead. Letting extra time flow on to the next one within the same step makes the total light the same, however long the pause between updates happens to be.

When not to use it

Do not drain the weakest first if players are meant to plan around fresh, strong batteries for the dangerous parts, such as a dark corridor ahead. Then let them choose which battery to use, and show how much each holds.
