Spielerando

Reload a weapon so no bullets are lost and a half-empty magazine is topped up

When ammunition is scarce, players notice every missing round. Reloading with a few shots left, with almost nothing in reserve, or while already full must each do the right thing and keep the numbers honest. This entry gets the arithmetic and the odd cases right.

Why this works

A reload moves things from one place to another, so what leaves the reserve must arrive in the weapon, exactly. Working from the free space in the magazine, not from a full refill, means nothing is made or lost, and a player who tops up early is never cheated.

When not to use it

A weapon that loads one shot at a time, or throws away the rest of a clip when swapped, follows a different rule. Do not use a top-up there; copy the way the weapon really works so the numbers match what the player sees.
