Fill an experience bar through two or three level-ups from one big reward
After a boss, the reward may be enough for several levels at once. A bar that just slides to the new fill level shows the wrong picture, and level-up messages can get lost or fire twice. Here is how to run the bar through every level and announce each exactly once.
Why this works
The bar is only a picture of one number, the total earned. Move that number and read level and fill from it, and the picture can never disagree with the truth; comparing before and after each step catches every milestone passed.
When not to use it
Skip it in games where levels are not a number line, such as choosing perks or a branching skill tree, or when a reward is meant to arrive instantly. Show a simple list of what was gained instead.
