Spielerando

What really killed the player, if the last hit is often just a scratch?

Your death log probably blames whatever struck last, so harmless things look deadly and the true killers go unnoticed. This entry explains how to decide the cause from the moments before the end.

Why this works

The blow that finishes a player is mostly chance, whatever was nearby at that moment. The damage that emptied the health came a little earlier, so looking back over a short stretch finds the real culprit.

When not to use it

Do not use it when deaths come from falls, traps or timers rather than from damage over time. Name those causes where they happen, since no earlier hits exist to find.
