Are players dying again right after they respawn?

A respawn that puts people straight back into the danger is a different problem from a hard fight, and it makes players quit fast. This entry shows how to find those quick repeat deaths and the chains they form, without mixing them up with first arrivals.

Why this works

A player who dies within moments of returning never had a fair chance, so that is a flaw in the game, not in the player. Judging only lives that began with a return, and looking for runs of them, separates a trap from ordinary hard play.

When not to use it

Does not fit games where returning into danger is intended, like a horde mode with endless waves. There, judge whether the player gets a moment to act, not how long they lived.
