Day-seven return of my new version looks terrible, but half the players are too new

Comparing how many players came back after a week is unfair to a version that is only a few days old, because its players have not had the chance yet. This entry shows which players to leave out of the count and how to read the two versions side by side.

Why this works

A return rate answers the question: of the people who could have come back, how many did? Someone whose week is not over yet could not have come back, so counting them as a miss measures how new the version is, not how good.

When not to use it

When you must decide today and the version is only a few days old, wait or compare an earlier day, such as the first day. Also, if only a few players are eligible, the rate swings too much to read; show the count beside it.
