Spielerando

Let a finished dish wait for the player, but spoil it gently, even offline

A dish is done, and the player is not there. Burning it at once feels cruel, never burning it makes timing meaningless. This entry gives a short window where the dish is perfect, then lets quality slide to ash, and works it out from the clock when the player returns, so no running timer is needed.

Why this works

A forgiving game lets a player leave and come back, so waiting must never feel like a trap. When everything is worked out from one stored ready time, the answer is the same whether the app was open, closed or asleep, and the slow slide gives a warning instead of a cliff.

When not to use it

Avoid it when waiting is meant to be a real risk, such as a tense cooking rush where speed is the skill. Also avoid it if players can set their phone clock back; use a time that comes from your own server.
