The picture sweeps across the room when you come through a door
Walking into the next room, many games let the camera glide from wherever it was last, so the player sees a swoop across the room or one stale frame. Here is where the view should start, and how to give the player more room in the direction they are facing.
Why this works
The first picture of a room should be worked out from where the hero enters, not carried over from the last room. Setting it straight away, under the fade, shows the right place from the first frame and gives the hero more room ahead.
When not to use it
Do not use it when the move between rooms is itself part of the story, such as a long walk down a hall you want to see, or a seamless world with no loading. Then let the view travel and keep one continuous shot.
