Pan the camera to a new spot in a fixed time, even when the goal changes midway

Story scenes want a pan that takes exactly as long as the line of dialogue, yet the player can trigger something new halfway. Restarting from standstill makes a visible hitch. Here is how to redirect a move so it carries its speed into the new one.

Why this works

Two things make a move feel right: it arrives when promised, and it never jerks. Describing the whole move by where it starts, how fast it is going and where it must end lets a change of plan pick up exactly where the old move was.

When not to use it

Skip it when the camera should simply follow something that keeps moving, like the hero. A fixed-time move has no place there; let the view trail its target softly instead, and use timed moves only for scripted scenes.
