Let the camera look ahead of the hero without swinging on every small tap

Showing more of the road in the direction you walk helps exploration, but a camera that swings the instant direction changes makes players seasick when they nudge back and forth at a doorway. Here is how to make it calm and still readable.

Why this works

A view that moves is read as a decision. If it reacts to every twitch, the player feels the screen is nervous, not that the hero is. Waiting for a clear, lasting change of heading before turning the view makes it feel calm and deliberate.

When not to use it

Skip it in fast games where the player needs to see the opposite side at once, such as a shooter with enemies on both flanks. There, centre the view on the hero or let the player aim the view directly.
