Show more of what is ahead, without the view swinging at every small step

Players need to see where they are going, so the camera shifts in the walking direction. But if it switches at every tiny back-step, the picture sways and makes people dizzy. Here is when to turn the shift around, how far to look and how fast to move.

Why this works

Players decide with what they can see in front of them, so the view should shift the way they are heading. But a shift that follows every twitch tells the eye nothing; waiting for a real change of direction keeps the picture steady.

When not to use it

Leave it out in games where the danger comes from behind or all around, such as a chase from the rear or an arena with enemies on every side. There the player needs a centred view. Also skip it in slow puzzle games, where nothing rushes at you.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Show more of what is ahead, without the view swinging at every small step" (read_entry camera-look-ahead-with-turn-delay) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
