Count crafted armor set pieces so two identical rings do not fake a set
Wearing two rings of the same kind should not unlock the bonus that needs two different pieces of the set. Players find this within a day and wear four copies of the cheapest piece. This entry counts what is really worn, once per piece, and stacks the bonus tiers.
Why this works
A set is a collection, and a collection means different things. Counting distinct pieces rewards the effort of finding them, while two copies of the cheapest ring would only reward patience at a shop. Rebuilding from the worn items each time keeps the bonus always matching what you see.
When not to use it
Do not demand distinct pieces in a game with few items, where players could never fill a set. Count slots there, or accept duplicates. Also reconsider when the set idea is not part of the game at all.
