Turn stacked armor plating into damage taken without ever reaching zero

Each armor plate cuts damage by thirty percent, so three plates and the player is immune, and the shooter has no more tension. This entry turns armor points into a curve where each plate helps less than the one before, and shows the player what the next plate is really worth.

Why this works

Protection that grows without limit ends the game, because danger vanishes. A curve where each extra plate helps a bit less keeps every upgrade worth something while leaving enemies a chance to hurt. Players also see clearly how much the next plate gives.

When not to use it

Do not use a soft curve when armor is meant to be all or nothing, such as a game where immunity to a certain danger is the puzzle's answer. There, give a clear threshold and let the player know exactly what they must reach.
