Spielerando

Make a crafting lottery stop handing out the part you already own

The player opens a salvage crate and gets the same helmet for the fourth time, while the boots never show up. It feels rigged even though it is random. This entry draws from what the player does not own yet, and turns the extras into something useful once the set is complete.

Why this works

Random draws feel rigged when luck repeats itself. People remember the fourth identical helmet far longer than ten different finds. Drawing only from what is missing keeps chance but removes the sting, and paying out something useful when everything is owned means no drop is dead.

When not to use it

Do not filter out what is owned when the thrill is collecting duplicates, as with cards that are traded or upgraded by merging copies. Keep the draw plain there, and make duplicates useful through trade or fusing.
