Make arrows and bullets hit a target that keeps moving

An enemy archer who aims at where you stand always misses a running player, while one who aims perfectly is unfair. Aiming ahead is a small piece of geometry with one trap: sometimes there is no answer at all. This entry gives the answer and what to do then.

Why this works

A shot takes time, so it must go where the target will be, not where it is. That is a meeting of two paths, and sometimes they never meet, so the enemy needs a plan for that, and a little imperfection keeps it fair.

When not to use it

Do not aim ahead when the target changes direction constantly, or when shots are so fast that leading hardly matters. The guess would miss anyway. Fire at the target, or spread shots across the likely area.
