My health bar stops just short of full and the check for full never passes
Small healing amounts add up to almost, but not quite, the whole bar. A plain test for full then fails for no visible reason. This entry shows how to count in whole small units so the total is exact, even with uneven frame times.
Why this works
Computers cannot store most decimal fractions exactly, so repeated addition drifts by tiny amounts. Whole numbers are exact, so counting in small whole units and carrying the remainder gives the same total every time.
When not to use it
If your bar is shown as whole hearts and only changes in whole steps, there is nothing to drift. Use whole numbers directly.
