The computer opponent plays the same opening every game and it gets boring
If every match starts the same way, players stop adapting and stop caring. This entry gives your AI a way to measure how varied the opponent really is across many games, with a fair score that does not hide openings it never uses.
Why this works
Variety is a property of many games, not of one. Measuring the spread of openings against all the openings the opponent could use shows a fixed habit even when each single game looks reasonable.
When not to use it
Skip it for scripted missions where the opening is part of the story. Judge those by whether the player has choices, not by how often the opponent varies.
