Spielerando

Find the scenes a player can enter but never leave

A loop of rooms or a last scene with no options can strand the player with no ending in sight, and testing by hand rarely finds it. This entry lists every dead end and every trap, and names the exact choice that leads into each one.

Why this works

A story that can be entered must also be able to end. Starting from the endings and marking every scene that can get there, anything reachable but left unmarked is a place where a player would circle forever.

When not to use it

Wrong when the loop is intended, like an endless dungeon, a waiting room or a daily routine game with no ending. Then mark where the player may stop, such as quitting, and check only that an exit exists for them to choose.
