Warn before the choice that makes the best ending impossible
A player can miss a key item or piece of knowledge in scene three and only find out at the very end that the good ending was gone for hours. Here is how to find those points of no return, so you can add a warning, a second chance or a save.
Why this works
What matters is not that an item can be missed, but that the player does not know a path is closing. Following every route and marking which situations can still win shows exactly which choices spend the last chance.
When not to use it
Wrong for games that expect a second playthrough, or ones where missing the best ending is the charm. A warning on every point of no return can spoil that; keep the check, but only warn where the loss would be unfair.
