Make snow or falling leaves loop forever without keeping a list of flakes

Hundreds of flakes, each with its own position kept and updated, cost memory and break when the window is resized, the game is paused or a frame takes long. If every flake is computed from the clock and its number alone, it just works. Here is that approach, including a sense of depth.

Why this works

If every flake is fully decided by its number and the time, nothing needs remembering. Pausing, resizing and long frames then cost nothing, because the position is simply asked for again. Depth sets size and speed together, which gives the sense of distance for free.

When not to use it

Wrong when flakes must react to the world: snow that piles up, leaves that land on the player, rain that splashes on the ground or wind that blows them around obstacles. Those need real objects with a place and a memory.
